About

Uncommon Parlance is a collection of words that you really should try to use in a sentence. Not only will you appear smarter to others, you’ll make the world a more colourful, cromulent place.

The people behind it are Steve Dempsey and Eoin Tierney.

Uncommon Parlance does do requests on occasion. So please submit any of your personal favourites for our consideration. Leave us a comment below if you’d like to see a particular word given the Uncommon Parlance treatment. We won’t do phobias though – except for keraunothnetophobia; we might do that at some stage.

I’d be interested to see what you’d do with ‘trichotillomania’

It’s a shame that there aren’t much logophiles floating around.

Is anhedonia too common a word? Its awfully nice! Not sure how uncommon a condition…Fortunately I very rarely suffer from it.

Love it Dearbhla – watch this space – although it could take some time. We’re busy fellows at the moment. Thanks for the suggestion.
